Games Workshop Group, the U.K. miniature-wargaming company, has announced a rise in pretax profit for the first half of fiscal 2024. The company experienced growth in core revenue across all channels and major countries, coupled with a decrease in costs.
During the 26-week period ending on November 26th, pretax profit increased to £95.2 million ($121.4 million) compared to £83.6 million in the previous year. Additionally, revenue rose to £247.7 million from £226.6 million.
Games Workshop attributed the increase in core gross margin to 69.4% (up from 64.2%) primarily to a reduction in inventory provision charges and carriage costs.
According to Chief Executive Kevin Rountree, “Games Workshop and the Warhammer hobby are in great shape. Despite challenging economic times, we continue to perform well, achieving record group revenue, profit, and dividends during this period. Our team at Games Workshop remains motivated, and our hobbyists are enjoying themselves.”
In December, the company announced a partnership with Amazon Content Services to develop movies and television series based on its popular Warhammer 40,000 game.
