The Asia-Pacific region experienced a drop in stocks on Friday, Nov. 10, with the Hong Kong market seeing a decline for the fourth consecutive day.
Hong Kong Stocks
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index (HSI) decreased by 1.8% to reach 17,203.26. Companies listed in the index, such as Xinyi Solar Holdings (968) and Semicon Mfg Intl (981), witnessed major declines in their share prices, with Xinyi Solar Holdings dropping by 7.9% and Semicon Mfg Intl falling by 6.8%.
On the other hand, China Resources Power (836) saw the largest increase in Hong Kong, with its shares rising by 3.4%. Meanwhile, companies like Cn Rscs Mixc Lifestyle (1209) and Sinopharm Group (1099) observed a minor increase in their share prices.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index
Japan’s stock market, represented by the Nikkei 225 Index (NIK), also experienced a slight decline of 0.2% to reach 32,568.11. Shares of JGC Holdings (1963) and Nikon Corp. (7731) faced significant declines, dropping by 11.6% and 10.5% respectively. On the other hand, SoftBank Group (9984) saw an 8.2% decrease in its share price.
However, there were positive movements as well, with Trend Micro (4704) recording the largest increase with a surge of 13.5%. Similarly, Resonac Holdings (4004) and Comsys Holdings (1721) witnessed gains of 10.5% and 9.4% respectively.
Other Markets
The Shanghai Composite Index (SHCOMP), representing Chinese companies, experienced a 0.5% decline to reach 3,038.97, while Singapore’s FTSE Straits Times Index (STI) weakened by 0.9% to reach 3,106.46.
The South Korean stock market, represented by the KOSPI Composite Index (180721), also faced a decline of 0.7% to reach 2,409.66. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index (XJO) recorded a 0.5% drop to reach 6,976.50.
