Top Decreases
Among the FTSE 100 constituents, Mondi PLC, a paper/pulp company, witnessed the largest drop as its shares fell by 6.74%. Following closely behind were shares of precious metals firm Fresnillo PLC and investment advisors company St. James’s Place PLC, which declined by 4.09% and 3.38%, respectively. Other notable decreases came from Ocado Group PLC, a food retail company, and Smith & Nephew PLC, a medical equipment/supplies company, with their stocks declining by 2.62% and 2.39% respectively.
Top Increases
Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC, an aerospace products/parts company, experienced the largest increase among the FTSE 100 constituents on Thursday, with shares rising by 4.51%. Admiral Group PLC, a non-life insurance firm, and Entain PLC, specializing in gambling industries, also saw significant increases of 3.69% and 2.30% respectively. Barclays PLC, a major international banks company, and NatWest Group PLC, a banking company, rounded out the top five largest increases with their stocks rising by 1.84% and 1.59% respectively.
Currency and Commodity Movements
The pound exhibited a slight decline against the dollar, down by 0.06% at $1.2704, and a 0.12% decline against the euro at €1.1606. On the other hand, Brent crude experienced a climb of 1.9%, reaching $84.76. Additionally, the yield on the 10-year gilt rose by 7.080 basis points to 4.476%.
