The U.K. stock market ended on a positive note on Tuesday, with the FTSE 100 Index (UKX) rising by 0.44% to reach 7,666.31.
Top Gainers
Among the constituents of the FTSE 100, investment advisors company 3i Group PLC (III) saw the biggest increase as its shares rallied by 2.63%. Internet/online firm Auto Trader Group PLC (AUTO) and closed-end funds company Pershing Square Holdings Ltd. (PSH) also performed well, with their shares increasing by 2.41% and 2.20% respectively. Banking company NatWest Group PLC (NWG) and advertising/marketing/public relations company WPP PLC (WPP) rounded out the top five gainers, with their stocks increasing by 2.07% and 1.92% respectively.
Top Losers
Wireless telecommunications services company Airtel Africa PLC (AAF) experienced the largest drop among FTSE 100 constituents, with its shares declining by 5.15% on Tuesday. Paper/pulp firm Mondi PLC (MNDI) and gambling industries company Entain PLC (ENT) also faced losses, with their shares shedding 3.22% and 2.37% respectively. Containers/packaging company DS Smith PLC (SMDS) and food retail business Ocado Group PLC (OCDO) made up the rest of the top five decliners, as their stocks declined by 1.93% and 1.91% respectively.
Currency and Commodities
The pound was down 0.23% against the dollar at $1.2682 and 0.31% against the euro at €1.1696.
Brent crude rallied by 0.9% to reach $82.60, while the yield on the 10-year gilt increased by 2.890 basis points to 3.904%.
